1.84 Acres. Adjacent to the John Wetten Elementary School. Patterson Park contains two tennis courts, a large play structure, permanent restrooms, a spray park, picnic shelters, small stage, irrigation system, and drinking fountain. This is the most popular park with city residents and is the site of the city summer recreation programs and the annual Community Festival. Patterson Park is 100% landscaped.
Park Hours: Gladstone Parks are open to the public daily from one hour before sunrise through one hour after sunset.
Picnics & Parties at Max Patterson Park - Max Patterson Park is a popular location for picnics, birthday parties, and other gatherings. During peak season, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, reservations are required to use the park’s shelter areas. Outside of peak season, shelter areas are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved.
Inflatable jumpers (such as bounce houses) and climb-on play equipment (such as rock climbing walls) are not permitted in any City park.
Max Patterson Spray Park: The spray park at Max Patterson Park will be open from June through September, 7-Days a week, 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
For safe, responsible fun at the spray park, please follow the spray park rules:
- Parental supervision of children is required;
- Swim diapers are required for all persons who are not toilet trained;
- Dogs/animals are not allowed in the feature (dog hair clogs the water system and there is potential of introducing fecal matter into the water system);
- Do not use the spray park if you have had diarrhea in the last two weeks.
Here are a few additional tips when using the spray park:
- For effective sunscreen application, allow the sunscreen to dry before entering the water;
- Rinsing off in the designated shower area is recommended prior to entering the spray park;
- Swim socks or shoes are recommended to avoid injury;
- Drinking and spitting of water from the feature is discouraged.

Pickleball Courts: The Gladstone Pickleball Club has an agreement with the City of Gladstone to use the Pickleball Courts Monday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Outside of these hours, the courts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
