Meet Your Council

Michael Milch

Mayor Michael Milch- Michael Milch spent 15 years as a religious educator and church administrator and 18 years as consulting pension actuary before retiring in 2008 to devote time to his twin grandchildren (now teenagers). Michael and his wife, Kat, began volunteering in their grandchildren’s Gladstone soccer and school activities in 2010, discovering an inviting city with a rich history and a tradition of community participation.

When Kat retired from nursing in 2015, they found their “forever home” in Gladstone, and Michael became more involved and invested in the civic life of their community. He has served on the Downtown Revitalization Committee, City Council, and Library Advisory Board, and as Chair of the Planning Commission, Budget Committee, and the Gladstone School District Budget Committee. Michael served four years on the Board of Directors of The Clackamas Bookshelf, a local nonprofit that provides free books to low income children in Clackamas County.

Elected as Mayor in 2022, Michael is committed to addressing the most important needs of our community—livability and economic prosperity—enabling all people to have access to opportunities they can use in the pursuit of improvements to their quality of life.

Vanessa Huckaby

Councilor Vanessa Huckaby (she/her)- Councilor Huckaby (Council President) and her children have lived in Gladstone for 17 years. Vanessa grew up in a small town in Oregon just a few miles down the road and understands the magic that comes from a childhood in a safe, small-town community. As a mom, she wants to ensure that her children and grandchildren have the same opportunity to grow up and thrive in a vibrant, inclusive community.
Vanessa has spent her career in administrative services, working with high-level leaders all working towards their own goals and navigates them to achieve the overarching goal of the organization. She intends to use her experience and diplomacy to bring together the strong leaders on Council to work on common goals that benefit our city.
Councilor Huckaby has her sights on: Reconnecting the community to city leadership, Facilitating greater community involvement, Improving our city’s livability, Parks and small businesses, Ensuring Gladstone is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community for ALL.

When Vanessa isn’t spending time with her family and granddaughter, Jaelyn, staying active at the gym or hiking, you will find her volunteering at the Gladstone Clothes Closet.

Greg Alexander

Councilor Greg Alexander- Councilor Alexander has lived in Gladstone for most of his life and has three generations of family who call Gladstone home. He wants to keep our small-town feel, great schools, events that bring us closer together, safe streets, a police and fire department that are honored and supported and beautiful open spaces that help make Gladstone what it is.  He would like everyone who lives or visits Gladstone to feel welcomed and included.

Veronica Reichle

Councilor Veronica Reichle-

Cierra Cook

Councilor Cierra Cook- Councilor Cook found Gladstone while searching for a community to raise their young children (Jonathan, 4 and Casey, 2). Cook and their husband chose Gladstone because of our amazing park system, proximity to bike trails, and high quality schools. Since moving here in 2019, the Cook family has become a part of this thriving community.

As an interim Councilor, Cook is committed to supporting the City Council goals of supporting economic development, improving infrastructure, engaging and communicating with the community, and improving our parks. Additionally, as the Business and Civic Liaison, Cook is looking forward to engaging with local business and tourism organizations to support our growing businesses as they serve our community.

Luke Roberts

Council President Luke Roberts- Councilor Roberts is a 2022 Gladstone High School Graduate and a proud Gladstone resident. He has spent the last 5 years working for Clackamas County Parks and Recreation and has enjoyed a variety of roles within the organization.

As a City Councilor, his focuses include continuing a strong working relationship with our police and Clackamas fire partners, engaging with the school district to support one another, and establishing a Youth Advisory Council. The focus of the youth council is to meet the City Council's adopted goal of “Communication and Community Engagement” via establishing a youth council that will foster youth development and bring in a new generation of voices to learn from. The reason Councilor Roberts ran for election in Gladstone was to see the younger generation's voice represented in a rapidly shifting political atmosphere. He would like to support the movement of young voices and champion political youth engagement.

He currently serves on the North Clackamas County Water Commission servicing the City of Gladstone, Oak Lodge, and Sunrise Water Authority.

While serving the City of Gladstone he will be approachable and forthcoming.

Mindy Garlington

Councilor Mindy Garlington - My family and I have lived in Gladstone for over 30 years and I am proud to be a lifelong Oregonian. My husband Steve and I came here after 12 years moving across states with the U.S. Navy.
I got involved with the City of Gladstone as a champion for our parks and green spaces. We have come so very far: we have master plans, site plans, completed and committed grants, new playgrounds, updated facilities, alternative and additional funding and so much more. I will always support Gladstone's parks. I believe Gladstone's most valuable assets are our people and our parks. If we care for them, everything that is good will follow.

As a city councilor, I am a liaison to the Clackamas County Library Board. Through that appointment, I have gained a deep respect for the libraries and their patrons. I am eager to join others in opening Gladstone's new library in the spring of 2024.

I also serve Gladstone by involvement with other cities across the state through the League of Oregon Cities. I am vice president of LOC Women’s Caucus and a voting member of the LOC Finance Committee.
