Since 1894, Gladstone has been the “Mother Chautauqua of the West,” drawing tens of thousands to Gladstone Parks for cultural enrichment through lectures, music, performances, and family-friendly gatherings. Today, the Gladstone Community Festival continues that legacy, bringing people together in celebration, creativity, and shared pride. The festival is more than an event; it is an opportunity to rekindle community spirit and celebrate Gladstone.
To achieve this mission, the City invites vendor participation in the Festival. Except as provided below, vendors must be selling a product or service on-site. Booth space is limited. Vendors not selling on-site may secure space by becoming a Festival Sponsor. Sponsorship opportunities are available at www.ci.gladstone.or.us/community/page/sponsors. The City does not select vendors on a first-come/first-selected basis. Rather, the City will select vendors that further the purpose of the Festival by providing cultural enrichment, fostering a sense of community, providing unique services, and elevating the festival experience for all. To that end, vendors will be selected on the following criteria, as determined by the Festival Committee:
- The quality and sustainability of the product, packaging and local food sourcing will be taken into account.
- Previous vending experience (either with the City or at other venues).
- Uniqueness and cultural authenticity of food and other products.
- Appropriateness and affordability of items being sold.
- Business professionalism, website, product promotion, design and marketing principles of vendor.
Vendors may not: (1) offer weapons for sale (firearms, knives, chemical sprays, stun devices, etc.); (2) utilize booths to expressly advocate for or against candidates or ballot measures; (3) display, sell or provide literature that contain offensive symbols. Festival staff reserves the right to require removal of items deemed inappropriate.
In order to further enhance community enrichment, the Festival Committee invites nonprofits that provide services to the Gladstone Community to apply as vendors even if they are not actively selling food or other products from their booth. The number of nonprofits selected will be based on space available, however, the Festival Committee will only select nonprofits that offer services free of discrimination (age, sex, gender, pronouns, religion, political affiliation, etc.).
