SANITARY SEWER DIVISION

PW Crews entering the wastewater system in a CSE

Your wastewater has quite a journey after it leaves your home. The City of Gladstone’s Public Works Department manages this process through three pump stations and nearly 35 miles of local sewer pipelines. From there, wastewater flows into larger regional pipelines and is delivered to treatment facilities before being safely discharged into our rivers.

Most of Gladstone is served by Tri-City Sewer District (WES) a partnership between Gladstone, Oregon City, and West Linn. In the north and northeast parts of the city, service is provided by Clackamas County Service District No. 1 or Oak Lodge Water Services.

In recent years, the city has made significant strides to correct multiple deficiencies within our aging wastewater system, deficiencies that resulted in numerous overflows into the Clackamas River. Phase 1 and 2 of the Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) Project corrected system deficiencies, both public and private in the east and west basins.  The resulting reduction in I/I is being closely monitored and will be reported to DEQ as part of the project close-out.

Inflow and Infiltration remains a major concern for treatment facilities, reducing it will remain part of our long-term infrastructure program for years to come.
